  • • 🔧 Before/after comparisons (system updates)
  • • 🐛 Save system state when problems occur
  • • 📊 Monitor storage or memory trends
  • • 📝 Keep records of system configurations

📸 Taking a Snapshot

  1. Find the "Snapshots" section in sidebar
  2. Click "📸 Take Snapshot" button
  3. Success message appears
  4. New snapshot shows at top of list

🔍 Comparing Snapshots

  1. Hover over a snapshot in the list
  2. Click "🔍 Compare" button
  3. Modal shows old vs new data with color coding:
    • 🟢 Green: Values increased
    • 🔴 Red: Values decreased
    • 🟡 Yellow: Values changed
    • ⚪ Gray: No change

🗑️ Managing Snapshots

  • Delete one: Hover and click 🗑️ (requires confirmation)
  • Delete all: Settings → Clear All Snapshots (double confirmation)

💾 Managing Storage

What the App Stores:

  • Snapshots: Saved system states (largest data)
  • Settings: Your preferences (very small)
  • Theme choice: Light or dark mode (tiny)
  • View mode: Grid or list preference (tiny)
  • Performance history: Historical metrics (small)

Storage Monitor Display:

Usage: 45% 450 KB (0.45 MB)

🔵 0-79%: Normal - plenty of space

🟠 80-89%: Warning - approaching limit

🔴 90-100%: Critical - cleanup recommended

🧹 Cleaning Up Storage

When usage reaches 80%, a "Clean Up Old Data" button appears.

Cleanup deletes snapshots older than 30 days while keeping the 3 most recent ones.

Best Practices:

  • • Adjust retention to 7-30 days (Settings → Data Retention)
  • • Delete old snapshots you don't need
  • • Export important snapshots as JSON before deleting
  • • Monitor storage weekly to avoid reaching 80%

Typical browser limits: Chrome/Edge/Firefox ~10 MB, Safari ~5-10 MB

Snapshot capacity: Roughly 100-200 snapshots in 10 MB (20-50 KB each)

💡 Tips & Best Practices

👤 For General Users

  • Baseline snapshot: Take your first when everything works well
  • Battery health: Take snapshots at 100%, 50%, 20% to track degradation
  • Before/after updates: Snapshot before and after system updates
  • Search effectively: Try "webgl", "battery", "mp4", etc.
  • Support tickets: Use PDF export for professional appearance

👨‍💻 For Developers

  • Compatibility testing: Check which APIs are available across browsers
  • Performance benchmarking: Snapshot before/after code changes
  • Media testing: Check codec support before encoding
  • Feature detection: Use exported JSON for automated testing
  • Debug issues: Ask users to export system info

🔐 For Privacy-Conscious Users

  • See your fingerprint: Everything shown is accessible to websites
  • 100% privacy-friendly: All processing happens in your browser
  • Test privacy tools: Snapshot before/after enabling VPN to see changes
  • No tracking: No analytics, no data collection, no servers

🛠️ Storage & Performance

  • Regular maintenance: Clean up old snapshots monthly
  • Efficient snapshots: Take when meaningful changes occur, not frequently
  • Export strategies: Use JSON for archival, PDF for human-readable
